Boi Bumba or Bumba Meu Boi is a popular regional festival which takes place annually in North and Northeast Brazil at Psongs. It's a celebration of a traditional story via the medium of song, music, dance and theatre - featuring giant puppets. Boi Bumba celebrations are held in June all over Brazil the biggest and most traditional being in Parintins. The most unique feature of this festival are the two teams so strongly divided that streets can be clearly seen to be color divided.

Major Attractions
The festival of Boi Bumba involves an extremely lively series of performances from two different teams . The festival began in its present form in 1913 and since then, the dances, costumes and rituals that accompany the story have continued to develop in their energy and complexity every year. Each night the performance of two teams tells the story of a farmer who cuts out the tongue of an ox to satisfy his pregnant wifes cravings. Highlights of the festival include huge parades and after performance parties where the audience have a chance to mimic the production. People have very strong affiliations to one Boi or the other and the competition is fierce. Live commentary of the action is given by a master of ceremonies. The legendary festival of Boi Bumba ends happily with the ox being resurrected.
