The Moon Festival is an eagerly awaited harvest festival in China & Vietnam. It's one of the most popular events observed during the month of late September or early October every year. According to traditions, the Moon Festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar which falls on the above mentioned time in international calender. The Chinese name of the festival is Zhongqiu Festival, or Zhongqiujie.

Major Attractions
Moon festival is also famous by the name of Mid-Autumn Festival all over the world. Farmers celebrate the end of the summer harvesting season on this date. It's one of the most ancient festivals celebrated till date, tracing its origin way back over 3,000 years. It was the time when Shang Dynasty of China used to worship moon. Earlier, it was also known as Zhongqiu Jie in the Zhou Dynasty as well as Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival in the countries of Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines. During Moon festival, Chinese family members and friends gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon and eat moon cakes and pomelos under the moon together. The traditional food of this festival is the mooncake, which is prepared in many different varieties. Celebration of the Moon Festival is strongly associated with the legend of Houyi and Chang'e, the Moon Goddess of Immortality.
