The Edinburgh Festival Fringe holds recognition as world's largest arts festival. It takes place in Scotland's capital during three weeks every August. A large number of other arts and cultural festivals, collectively known as the Edinburgh Festival are celebrated during this period, of which the Fringe is by far the largest. It was established in 1947 as an alternative to the Edinburgh International Festival. The concept of Fringe Theater has been copied around the world. The largest and most celebrated of these spawned festivals are Adelaide Fringe Festival and Edmonton International Fringe Festival.

From musicals to comedy, opera to dance, there's something for everyone. Prices of admission are super cheap on average and the Scottish capital is absolutely abuzz during the three weeks the fest is on.
