The London Film Festival is one of the most awaited international events in entertainment industry. Since its start, this mega observation holds recognition as UK's largest public film event. The London Film Festival is organized every year by British Film Institute in the second half of October month. Festival showcases the best of world cinema with screening more than 300 features, documentaries and shorts from almost 50 countries.

The London Film Festival was started in the year 1956 when a group of film critics including Dilys Powell of the Sunday Times, raised the notion of a film festival for London. The inspiration behind this thought was the annual film festivals in other renowned world cities like Cannes, Edinburgh and Venice. The main attractions of this annual cinematic leisure in London are the Opening and Closing ceremonies which have now become major red carpet events. Besides this, a number of festival awards are presented at the closing gala which was replaced by a stand alone awards ceremony I n2009. It also provides an extensive programme of industry events, public forums, education events, lectures, master classes and Q&As with film-makers and film talent. This two week long event is divided into themes which cover different areas of interest all over the world.
